found this rock on a roof any ideas
It is soft to the feel. And seems like it is kinda transparant.

You're not giving us much to work with.
Your rock is translucent, it passes some light but not clear like glass (transparent).
Rocks don't feel soft. It might feel waxy or greasy. Try to scratch it with a nail, piece of window glass, then a piece of known quartz. Let us know which, if any, of them scratches it.
Based just on your pictures it looks like a piece of flint.
No guess on the second rock. Take more pictures, do a hardness test.

Also would be nice if the samples were wet and under better lighting, Thou both images appear to have bands.. so could be some form of agate, Blue lace etc or blue/grey chalcedony..

It's there,you just gotta look for it!
Aren't you supposed to find rocks in the ground?
I know a lot of folks with rocks in their heads,maybe they dropped one! God Bless Chris

I am a roofer lol some commercial roofs are a ballast system rubber roof. They put river rock on to hold the roof down on that type.

The first photos definately look like flint.
