From what I can tell from the photo it could be quartz or limestone that veined in a softer rock, that later eroded and your specimen thus acquired it's present form. Still a presentable and interesting piece. :thumbsup:

Sorry Mama, No clue.. Thou give a few days to reseach my books.. btw.. I met a retired school teacher who is gettign rid of his old geology / earth scince books.. and you guessed it.. he wants to give them to me.. will keep you posted.
