Try to steady youe cam.. rest it one a table or chair.. allow the camera to focus, wait for the beep and take note of the cross hairs.. Perhaps more light is nessisary.. Light box and or mirrors can also benifit your images.. Dont try to get to close to your subject.. It's best to take the shot al least a foot away then crop if needed or at leats this is how I do it.. BTW.. first image could be an emerald.. Second.. Not sure.. mossy covered river slate..
K great Image very well taken.. thank you.. Now.. after taking note of the color and clearity of the stone.. it could be an emerald.. But All of a sudden I'm leaning toward peridot. Congrads
I thought peridot as well, but then it scratched a piece of quartz... With peridot being a 6.5 to 7.0 on the MOHs hardness scale. I don't think it can be peridot.
I am going to attempt to scratch my "emerald" with a garnet found awhile back. Wish me luck. With any luck my emerald will not be harmed my the garnet.
Well, One can never really trust what they see.. Meaning I see (eyes are getting bad) Emerald.. but feel peridot. Purhaps your scratch test will prove otherwise.
