calcite on hematite

Had a great time finding this one its boytrodial hematite with dog tooth calcite from the cady mountains near ludlow ca

Is it fluorescent? Have you found opal there?

No floresence from long wave and i did find common opal (no fire) in the area

Sagenite



This is what i was looking for but took the wrong trail and ended up with the hematite/calcite

For those of you just tuning in.. Sagenite is an Agate base with some sort of inclusions.. In the case above.. looks like gold inclusions.

np. RHR last time I seen something like this.. I had found a small sample of Amethyst which had gold strands running through it.

Also.. even though it's listed as "Agate" I feel that your sample is more chalcedony based.. note the creamy center

Ahh the gold strands in amethyst is called goethite a iron mineral that helped make it purple
