I thought y'all might like to see this. My wife was making a small collection of mortar and pestles and she ran across this in an online auction. When it arrived it obviously wasn't one. It jogged my memory though and I researched eddy current rocks or souse rocks made by river water trapping one rock on top of the other and over time "drilling " a hole in one.
This was found by a river in Arkansas under a bush. The finder thought it was Native American for grinding. I can understand _MG_1930.jpg _MG_1931.jpg why but because the size it wouldn't be practical.

I agree it is formed by forceful water & gravel swirling to cause the depression. Nice rock for display to show nature at work.
