I live in the Ohio valley region in west Virginia and would like to try my hand at gem hunting. Can anyone tell me the closest place to go in Ohio, Kentucky, or wv ? I can be in Ohio or ky in less than 10 min so any of the three is accessible. Thanks to anyone who would be kind to assist. God bless!

Around waverly ohio there are several different types of stones and gems to hunt. Even diamonds have been found in the area.. Good luck!!!

in mercer co.willowton area quaries there has been found onyx,monroe co. peterstown there has been diamond reports. kentucky,adair co. montpelier diamond,crittenden co. back of the ohio river/fluorite ,elliot co. ison creekgarnet(pyrope) illmenite,mica,olivine,peridotite. russell co. same streams as in adair co./diamond.
