Had cabin fever & decided to go for a drive to an area that I have found quite interesting. Decided to look at some of the rocks eroded from a hillside, & found this. I have found chert nodules before, but they were in a limestone "clay" (calling it clay for lack of knowledge) So I was thrilled to see it embedded in the local rock & with no limestone coating. I know it's kind of silly, but this is what I love doing. A few days before I drove to an area that has some beautiful druzy exposed due to new road cut. The one I really wanted was to big for me to dig out, so I got this small piece. The snow & ground thawing has brought up some nice pieces.
