IMG_20140209_100346752_HDR.jpg I found this opal in a bucket of rocks a family member gave me. The size is 7/8th of an inch. What I am not sure of is what type of opal is it and what is the worth if I decide to make a ring/broach? I am a petrified wood collector, so this is out of my league. Thank you all for your input!

Do you have any idea where it was found? It looks similar to opal from Arco, ID area. I am a big fan of "raw" material, even in jewelry. Look on pinterest or a similar site to get ideas. Any other rocks in the bucket you'd like to share with us?

Would need a picture straight on, looking down from the top. With the light shining through the host rock is difficult to make out. :)
