Looks like quartz which got some colour from hematite.

Common Rule here.. we all have our own opinions on what something can/could be.. Although it appears to be red quartz (of sorts) on a white quartz etc.. this sample could actually be red aventurine thou it's not as dense as a typical aventurine sample.. The black one.. your still to close for a true verification.. Let's see if we can get a bitter picture..
