Sorry for the reflection on 1st photo. Any thoughts as to the pretty, shiny structure in my quartz rock? Fools gold? Mica?
I was re-viewing some of my old finds. I believe I might have snatched this piece from an irrigation channel at the base of Round Mountain mine in Nevada. The other side has a very fine thin "yellow-gold" film encasing it. Thanks in advance!

Test with a needle if it is mallaeble or breaks if pushed against. It might be gold, just guessing from the (blurry) pics. But some mica can also look similar.
Also note if it can be broken into "flakes".

As Eu said you can test the gold material with a pin. Gold wont flake or break. Makes for an interesting find

Hey don't feel bad My very first rock came outta the back yard. A large chunk of quartz with massive mica running thru it. I was convinced I'd found gold. Dad set me strait but by the time we moved I'd about 200 pounds of local sparklies to sift thru. Still got that rock only saved about 10 of them from that first collection. Hahh!
