I have this rock with a quartz vein and directly underneath is a vein of a goldish material.I thought it may be pyrite but their are no cubic crystals. the rock is very heavy and I was wondering if anyone could help me identify it.

I will have to go buy a pan but ok ,will do. I took the ace 250 over it and got no signal. However I did take a chunk off and revealed a metallic iridescent light blue tint underneath. I tied to crush the chunk up and some of it crumbled while some was alot harder to crush. Will let you know how it pans out.

Massive pyrite. You really don't need to crush it as what you did pry off confirms what it is. The iridescent may indicate peacock pyrite. Its unlikely you'll find much gold value in breaking it up. Nice speci though. :)
