Please help with identification

Hello,
I would like some help identifying the rock I fond yesterday. I know virtually nothing about rock/mineral ID.
I have attached photos

Characteristics:
Weight: 2 lbs 5 oz
Length is around 6"

Rock is made up of layers which are easily flaked off.
There are circular dark red crystals embedded (I tried to get a close up picture of them)
Also looks like small pyrite flakes on one end. I doubt its gold!

Some areas are smooth and metallic. It is not magnetic.

I came up with hematite, but I am not sure.

Kind of looks like schist to me. It's a neat looking specimen. I'm not sure about the red crystals, a little hard to see the photo.

I added some more equally bad pictures of the red crystals, for whatever it is worth.

Obviously, I have a lot of learning and research to do... I need to go find more stuff!!!!!

What you have is a schist with garnets. Great looking specimen. High alumnus schist gives it that metallic look. Again great specimen.
