I'm not lucky enough to have found actual gold so I'm thinking pyrite is what I have . I have posted other rocks that contain what I assume is pyrite. Every time I find one rock with pyrite I will soon fine many more with in a two foot radius. Does pyrite form on a vein like actual gold?

The dark spots are all the areas of pyrite. The bottom right rock, the whole thing is one big nugget of pyrite.

Same with these rocks, all dark spots is what I assume is pyrite.

PennyG the pictures are a little dark to see them very good. Pyrite is not a bad thing as gold can run with it. Keep looking and posting your finds.

Pyrites form up in viens and pockets. If there is a lot of it in the area expect to find it scattered about. Some pyrites carry gold so it might be a fun experiment to pan a bit in the area your finding it ;)
