I pulled this slab of agatized petrified wood out of a buried log in a stream:





This is a North Carolina 1,500 ct. Opal specimen:



This is some sort of volcanic rock; very light. Pumice maybe.

Your volcanic rock is basalt,throw it in a bucket of water,it should float.

Basalt doesn't float. I think pumice does, though.

You're right, pumice floats, basalt doesn't, very solid and heavy.

I hit a massive Chalcedony deposit today. I retrieved this 40-50 lb. chunk from a larger section. The main section appears to be about 200 lbs.!







No, I'm not cleaning it with bleach. I just used that as a size comparison, lol.
