Need to clean those up some more~ however they appear to be quartz on first glance.

That's better. It appears you have a combination of rhyolite and quartz. The clear crystalline material on the top appears to be rutilated quartz~ ie the rhyolite crystals inside the quartz. rhyolite comes in black and gold so some of the gold coloring is mostly from rhyolite and small quartz crystals~ grainy to massive. Nice speci :)

Addendum: You may want to surface the area you found that in as it maybe productive to find both better specimens and the possibility of quartz crystals and rutiladed quartz crystals that are most collectable :)

Correct, quartz. Rutile in quartz gives rutilated quartz, not rhyolite though. :)
