Ash, you're fairly close to Cross Hill, Nuevo. Good schorl bearing pegmatite. Look at wilfindgold's thread. From Idlywild south to San Diego the ground produces tourmaline. Be careful to not go collecting on someone's claim though. Good luck and I'm always out digging around as well. Will post my finding from yesterday's trip to Black Jade mtn. in Victorville.

Thank You for the reply Mr. Lee. I just moved out here from the the east coast, I had no clue about Cross Hill, Nuevo. I am going to have to wonder around over there. The place I went to dig for the rocks in the pics above is not to far from the Crown Jewel mine, north of the fire camp. I did look at the BLM website for active claims before I went out there. I just hope I read it right. last thing I want to do is upset anyone. Looking forward to your pics.
