last year i made a weekend project.

Well........i made another cut off that little rock.
this time i found something i will never again see in a rock. An indian tipi tent.

I was dumbfounded when i seen the slab, i just HAD to make a cab from it, this is Mexican Imperial Jasper.
The stone (this one in particular) is insanely high caliber stone.
I was told the cabochon alone, with the quality of work bringing it to a pristine glass polish (even under a microscope)
I could sell the cab alone for over $400

Im keeping it though, unless i was really offered $450, then i would get new tires on my ford explorer lol!

Heres what i did with it, on my wash machine again. Another Spin-Cycle design.

That looks amazing; I wish I had that kind of talent. Since I started rock hunting I have also looked at what it would take to just polish some of these up. You took polishing rocks to a whole new level with that piece.

I know nothing about minerals or finishing them but that cabochon is beautiful. I have done a bit of silversmithing and can appreciate your process from unfinished rock to finished jewelry. Nice piece! It's especially nice if that is you in your avatar? It appears that you may need glasses.

That Cab Teepee ROCKS! Thanks for making my day- seriously man:thumbsup:
Here's a favorite quote- for you and thank for the show ;)

It's time I sling the baskets off this overburdened horse
Sink my toes into the ground and set a different course
Because if I were here and you were there, I'd meet you in between
And not until my dying day confess what I have seen

Better yet:
from Pebbles and Marbles

She started a blaze from one tiny spark I didn't even detect
She loved the light, was dismayed by the dark, the stars, though, she seemed to respect
The faint light that flutters at night to the earth would land in her eyes and collect
Luminous creatures she'd find in the surf I never thought to inspect
Pebbles and marbles, like things on my mind, seem to get lost and harder to find
When I am alone, I am inclined, if I find a pebble in the sand, to think that it fell from my hand
She gave me ideas and planted the seed, but she never stopped to reflect
The course that she's on, wherever it leads, I never would redirect
Pebbles and marbles, like words from a friend, make us hold tight but are lost in the end
When we're alone, we all seem to tend, if we find a marble in dust, to wish someone left it for us

(sorry...just had to got there for a minute...)

Thank you everyone.
My patience on this stone paid off, i spent three weekends with worn 600 belts just rubbing this until i could no longer see a sctratch on the surface.

I polished it and a day or so later lost it.
A few months later i accidently found it & have no clue how it got there. I thought it was gone forever, i actually had a tear in my eye when i found it.

Looks great :) Hope to be able to do something like this someday. I tried soldering some miniature sculptures together before but it didn't go well. Did you braze this? Really nice stone as well :) Glad you found it. I lost one of the stones I polished and it is really annoying. Can't imagine how much worse it would be losing something really nice like that.
