Some things done with mica is fireproof construction materials ummm Ive seen it used for art. I found a website were they make lamps out of it that were really cool. Also lithium from it. I think its a good insulator type stuff for electronics maybe.

One I almost steped on. Its summer so everyone be carefull. There beuatiful animals i didnt bother them and they didnt bother me, They blend in to the ground really well to. I found a bunch of nice black tourmaline in Anza Borrego Desert:

I found tiny pieces of watermelon and orangish looking tourmaline in the area. I think the orangish stuff may be a form of Pink Tourmaline. Not certain as Tourmaline isn't really my thing.

Anza-Borrego Desert encompasses a bunch. State Park, Wilderness Areas, Bombing Range, Carrizo Impact Area, etc etc etc. This was found on the West end of the desert.

The picture you posted on post 29. Nice!! Can you tell more about it I'm not talking about what it's made of. Was it something you dug up or was on top of the ground?

So, I found out there's more than one gem bearing pegmatite district in California. These were collected recently, Amazonite & Aquamarine. Keep digging cause it's out there! I would suggest picking up the Gem Trails books to quickly learn about the areas these are found. Took me 1 day to find them.
