Devil's Head/ CO Springs Area

So I am going to be taking a trip to CO Springs on Wednesday, and am wanting to do some rockhounding while I'm down there. I'm thinking of trying Devil's Head, since the wife is more interested in gems than minerals. I'm not looking for anyone's secret vug, but if someone can offer advice (or for that matter would like to join) it would be greatly appreciated

I was there about 1 1/2 years ago. Divide actually. The area is heavily claimed and often not very well marked.
The claim owners I was with (amazonite and smokey quartz) were both carrying side arms as disputes have become common.
Ever since the Prospectors tv show started airing, the mountains have been invaded by non-prospectors and claim jumpers looking for a quick buck.
Do your research and try to find claim maps and don't relay on stakes. They are far apart and hard to always notice. These claim owners are serious.

Just a look at the number of claims at Cripple Creek is astonishing.
