Hi, a friend of mine found this rock in California. We would like to have it identified. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1446945977.054114.jpg

Looks like garnet or amethyst/smokey. What area was it found in? You don't have to say the exact location, just the area so we know what minerals are found there.
