Would Indians use it and would it normally be anywhere near creeks in Texas? I have also found lots of flint pieces and a few arrow heads. Thanks for responding!!

Jasper, Chert and Flint were traditionally used, at least among the tribes around here in Northern Idaho, to make knives and arrow heads. All three can be easily knapped and make a sharp edge. The material is fairly common and easy to find in many places.

I would assume that the same material was probably used by the Native tribes in Texas.
