I was thinking today about the price of Epsom Salts (magnesium sulfate) and wondered what other minerals or even deposits a prospector may find in the process of looking for gold or gems?

I am interested about people's opinions on minerals that we may not consider looking for but tend to form in fault zones or gold bearing areas that people don't usually look for or didn't know was rare etc.

I realize this is a regional question but mostly I'm just interested in the random mineral deposits we didn't know had value that are worth mining or discovering. Thanks. Alex

Rare earths, diamonds in the far north, silver, if the price ever goes up, uranium... Depends on where you are and far you want to travel...

Alex, like they say ,if it can't be grown it has to be mined. You never can tell. What is worthless today could be sought after in a few tears. Oil shale , lithium, natural gas etc
