I was walking around in a public trail path close to a railroad in my area. They built a new train station in the last year. In this location the earth was moved around a bit, so i'm walking something catches my eye..

I made my own research, i am no rock guru but i know a good base of rocks and minerals.
Correct my if i'm wrong but i think this is Hematite

Hematite is not very magnetic. It will streak red. You may have magnetite.

using neodymium when i test the small pieces follow up with the magnet, the other big pieces it sticks on but easy to take off (slight pressure)

seems to strike black when tested under cup..

It looks a lot like slag. I can see voids where there were bubbles in pic #3, and the "molten" look helps give it away. Any mining/smelting done in your area? Around here, mining has been done for 140+ years, and a lot of slag left over from the smelting processes here were used as bedding for rail roads. By the way xalpha322, I REALLY like you avatar! lol!

loll thx for the avatar! :)

i searched on google stuff about mining in my area , non conclusive . here is a pic of the area and compare from year to year. When there was the actual construction site seem like the were pushing earth there, and then after when done they flattened out.

I went prospecting especially because they dug up and moved stuff around, and it's close to home.

I'd have to agree with IAMZIM, that it's slag. But just guessing.
