New here. Just bought a house in west central Ohio. Found these in the basement and unsure what they are, if anything? Click the pictures to see better quality. In the thread itself, they are lower resolution

Fairly certain that it is Bituminous coal. How old is your house? If it's older there is probably a coal shoot at the base of your foundation that drops down into the basement. They used coal to heat the home back in the day. Sometimes you can find fossils in them, but not always.
