ID for rock/iron ore? from thailand

Hi all,

I don't have a lot of geologic knowledge, and i would appreciate some help to ID this rock. (looks like iron ore, but is it hematite, limonite..?

I've found it in a garden lying there; I saw tiny yellow crystals on the surface, so i broke it open, and saw these small yellow cubic crystals. I don't know if its gold or pyrite or something else. I did not find a single picture of iron ore with these cubes inside....

Also, is it woth searching the area for more of these?

Think you are right, iron ore, looks like limonite after pyrite in hematite. Streaks should settle it.

If Jason is correct and this is limonite after pyrite then yes, it us worth going back for more. I love pseudomorphs

The streaks were : redish-dark brown for the iron, so i guess hematite, and/or limonite.
The crystals are definitely pyrite : dark grey streak.

I forgot to say that it comes from Koh Samui, Thailand, if that interest anyone..
My range is limited to Koh Samui and Koh Phangan, so if anyone has info for that particular zone, i would be interested

You already know what it is. There is a granitic intrusive that makes up you're two islands. Metals like antimony, iron, lead and zinc could all be present. Silver is also a possibility. Unfortunately sedimentary host rock for such a deposit is below water. Look in the south-west part (Na Mueang waterfall to the Conrad Koh Samui) of Koh Samui for interesting rock and minerals. Also look at the streams leading away from the mountain for garnet, it should be small and difficult to spot with a naked eye. Pay attention for any transparent minerals... Good luck.
