Was wondering if this is a type of quartz or what kind of mineral this was.Did hardness test with sapphire and it left flat spot on sapphire. When put in bright light it has spots on it like looking thru a window .The size 4 1/2 " x 3 1/2" in width. Very dence in weight and very odd in shape too.

Yup thats a chunk of quartz. What I call massive quartz. All the individual crystals, large and small, are compacted into a solid form. Coloration is most likely due to iron and manganese that was present when the material formed.
