Pink crystals in black rock? Identification or rock or crystal.

Is it rose quartz in this rock? any ideas on what type of rock this is ?

Could be, but Rose quartz is typically (mind you, not always) found in pegmatites. Could it be amethyst with a pinkish tint?

That's pretty cool. I would also say it's probably amethyst. I live on the east end of Long Island and I've found many interesting specimens. I found this last week near construction site. It's different than yours but it has some areas that are similar. Where did you find it?ATTACH]1404150[/ATTACH]

I'm for amethyst. Has a strong purple on my monitor and when amethyst is light enough it can appear pink. The host rock I'm not so sure of. Its pretty fine grained and seems to have a high hardness.

Sorry for the late response, school has taken over my life again haha. I found it near Tilcon Lake in Stanhope, NJ.
