herkimer diamonds location

Hello, It has been a spring time tradition for my family to go and hunt for those beautiful herkimer diamonds. I am sick of going to the mining pits that are there. Anyone know of any other locations other then the ACE and KOA. Something off the beaten path. We have all of our tools

Herkimer diamonds are a trade name for quartz crystals, which are some-what common.
See if there are any clubs or try and find locales at mindat.org - just be aware of the laws in the area.

The pits are just that...overcrowded and noisy I didn't know they let people search elsewhere, now you have me curious too.
