It doesn't seem to be magnetic, for a knife test, what kind of knife would you recommend, andI have no idea what that last one is.

A steel knife. Don't use silver cutlery.
Actually a common kitchen knife will do fine. I personally have a pocketknife with me at all times to do the test.
