coloration suggests garnet. What was it polished with?

probably calcite. See if a knife will scratch it. if it does it's calcite, if it doesn't it's probably quartzite.

Whoops sorry and apologies to phantom35!! For some reason I thought I had!!

phantom, what kind of sand paper? I ask because it will give us an idea of hardness for your specimen.

Hilary, the rock on the left is quartz and as stdenis said a hardness test would be indicative of the other two stones.
