Slag I assume???

I have found several similar rocks metal detecting the field beside my house. The only other metal I have found is broken off farm implements and fence pieces.
I assume that they are slags (first thought meteorites), but what would make these, and why in a farm field? The one in the picture was cut with a grinder.

I'm inclined towards sulphides as well.
