Rocker, knowledgeable people are trying to help you and offering their
advice. No one is trying to fool you, or make you feel bad..they're simply
telling you the truth based on their experience.

There are true artifacts out there to be found, so use the guidance others
have offered and you'll be able to go find some.

FWIW, back when I first started prospecting I gathered a little bottle full of
gold colored flakes, and then proudly showed it to the owner of the
local prospecting store. He (kindly) told me it was not gold, but Mica,
and had -0- value.

It sure looked like gold to me, but it wasn't to be. Your situation is much
the same...it's a learning curve we all go through, but it does make success
all the sweeter when we do come up with gold, or in your case a relic of the past.

Stick with it, do the homework and you will find success!

This rock did not form or get broke into this shape. Someone shaped it. This site isnt what i thought. Natural......yeah rite

How long have you been hunting and collecting artifacts? I have been doing it for over 37 years, I have found thousands of real artifacts hunting Missouri and Illinois, I have dozens of books on collecting indian artifacts, I have attended at least a dozen artifact shows and that many artifact auctions in person where collectors had passed away. I am by far NOT the most experienced hunter/collector here too. do you want to collect real artifacts or rocks, choice is yours?

Do you have any way to look at the rock with magnification? Even a 10X loupe should show evidence of someone working the stone. You can get a phone app to magnify and take a picture, post it here for an honest scrutiny. We hope more than anything that the stone was worked by primitive civilization, lets get to the bottom of it together, post close-ups.
Actually, there are quite a few very wrong google images. People post things they think are real artifacts when they're actually nothing but good old fashioned rocks. Google, in this case, is not your friend and many, many images there will trick you into thinking you have something. And to make matters worse, people sell rocks- just rocks on EBay claiming that they're artifacts- and they make $$!! It's infuriating. So I don't blame you for questioning our answers to your questions here. But take it from me, we're not a$$es, and we're not here to mess with you... well some might be....;) Nut for realz- if you want some pics of real honest-to-god artifact pics, just ask. This is the place.
