Found this rock at the bottom of my pan while panning, There was 2 of them the one in the picture was the larger one. both sides are terminated but have only 2 sides till it gets to a point rather than 4 or more. Interesting. Two guesses, tourmaline, but the crystal form throws me. Or olivine. Back light it, see if it's translucent with a greenish hue.

No green that i can see, it’s pretty opaque, has some gold color in spots and a little red in spots

If you found that in a stream, it's a really tough stone to hold it's crystal form. Wash it any way you want. Much better and larger pics would be good. Size and exact shape are a big question mark. It looks octahedron, but elongated, which is a bit weird.

Magnetic? Is it possible to test specific gravity?

First thought was Augite, maybe Allanite. But I'm not sure, something looks off.
See if it can scratch a knife.

Depending on how magnetic it is its possible it could be magnetite or a hematite pseudo morph. Both will show up at the bottom of a gold pan and I've seen simular crystals in my own pans though usually quite small. Below is a link you may want to check out. Here is a quote from that link. : May form as a pseudo morph after other minerals, especially as octahedral crystals of Magnetite.
