What type of rock?!

It would help if you gave a general area (state) in which it was found. From what I can see, it looks similar to a Chert nodule.

Thanks! I’m sorry, I found this rock in 1987 in the UK about 40 miles north of London laying in a farmers field. This particular field was absolutely load d with this type of stone, some smaller and some larger than the one I posted.

So this chert nodule may be sedimentary rock from the Cretaceous period? Wow! Possibly formed in chalk?

This is true flint formed in chalk beds. Beautiful high quality material that chips great. Nice piece. Gary
