My wife found this in a river. I don't remember where.
It is translucent and has a chunk of copper stuck in it.

Definitely a nice chunk of chalcedony. Agate is chalcedony, but the specimen shown is not the type commonly called "crazy lace". Crazy lace is known for it's colorful banding and patterns and will not be near as translucent as the OP specimen. Cool find!

It formed around native copper?!? That's an awesome find and as much of a keeper as the woman who found it!
