Dont know what this is called but it looks like chert, chalcedony on the inside and not really sure about the blue/grey exterior that does not react to HCL. There is also some bright orange specks fluorescing under LW UV.

no, these all were part of a collection I bought off of craigslist last fall.

That first one is an agate, I guess you could call it a brecciated agate but I don't know the exact name (usually named after the location it was found) and no idea on the bluish rind either.

The purple one seems a little off to me...can you measure the specific gravity?

1) Montana agate
2) Moss agate
3) quartz with tourmaline inclusions

Specific gravity 2.75. I might do it again later to confirm, I was a bit rushed and did not double test.

cool...if it comes back any higher it might be something else - 2.75 is on the high end for amethyst so it probably is
