I was wondering if someone could post a pic of what garnet looks like straight outta the ground?I'd been gold prospecting in a nearby creek here in the upstate SC.Brought some material back, panned it out,and saw a piece of quartz with some hemitite attached to it.I thought it was interesting so I put it with my other collection of rocks.Well, yesterday I looked at it under a 30x magnified and I was seeing red crystals on it.I just wanna know what it is,cuz I believe where there's one there's more, hopefully bigger, right.?Anyway,I'd appreciate what ever kind of help I can get off this.

The top picture is Star Garnets. They are only found in Idaho. Woot Woot :)

The bottom are garnets pieces found in Montana while looking for sapphires. They have very similar weights.
