At garage sales, after looking for my main interest, I'll go back through and try to find items I can sell for scrap: Old India brass cast items, jumper cables, copper cookware, and heavy and usually dirty copper extension cords. Today, I had 112 lbs. of yellow brass from old brass decorative items found at garage sales because brass items just won't sell at local garage sales....

On my last garage sale, I bagged up all those non-copper metal clamps left over from jumper cables. The 1 gallon baggie full sold for $5 (LOL)

Going into town last week, I stopped, turned around and went back to a garbage pick up in front of a house. There, leaning up against sacked garbage, was an old 12lb copper/aluminum oil cooler..... It brought $18.85!

All totaled, I came home with $343.85.

I own a machine shop, have been in business now for 13 years...I got barrel upon barrel of solid aluminum chunks. I always throw out my shavings...just mixes with too many plastics and such. Someday I'm gonna cash out... whenever I can get around to making many trips.

Some scrap companies will come pick up if you have enough to make it worth their time. Call a few and see what they say.

If your milling the same material it'll fine, but if there's a mixture of grades it will better to separate the product or the yards will buy it at a mixed price.
