what is scrap silverplate worth ?

WHAT KIND OF TREASURE ARE WE HUNTING TODAY ?

MINELAB E TRAC, EXCAL2,QUATTRO,WHITE 6000 DI PRO SL,EAGLE SPECTRUM,SILVER UMAX ,BANDIDO UMAX VARIOUS VINTAGE
i bought a large box of old silverplated. knife fork and spoons

at the auction.

kept a world fair 1933 spoon and an old timey wood handle fork.

so , silverplated what ? in places where there is wear on these old eating utensils.

u can see brass color showing. what metal is under the silver plate.

most knife bade say stainless. do they need to be removed

before sale ?

Ask in the garage section of this forum. A lot of knowledge about stuff like that. I don't think it has any melt value, but some is collectible.

Sold them all.
No scrap value that I have found, I steer clear, unless its cheap and various brands... May be a Sterling piece hiding.
Keep a lookout for plated copper pieces (not utensils).

You might do better selling them on ebay as craft items. People make jewelry and yard art with them.

Just an idea.

Some of the silver plate is brass underneath, some copper, most are a base metal that is junk. Do a hard scratch test to get the color.
