    Iron Junk in the garage

    Greetings Gentelmen!

I spend most of my time in the Coin Roll Hunting forums, but I have a questions for the not-so-precious metal experts. I've got some brake rotors and drums that I've collected over the years...probably 4-5 cars worth, not a lot, but enough for a free lunch or so. I know these are pretty solid iron (buddy in college used to hunt for them to melt down for his cast iron sculpting class in the Arts program) When is the best time to scrap these? They aren't taking up a bunch of space (under the tool bench) but if this is the time of year to part with them for scrap I'd like to get a few dollars for them. Any direction you guys can point me in would be most welcome.

Not sure how to time it. But as for prices this year, I have got prices for sheet iron as low as .09 a pound in Jan, .11 a pound in Sept and .095 a pound this month.

Brake rotors and drums will go as clean cast. Should be in the $280.00 per ton range. The best time to take them in is when you are going past the scrapyard during you day's driving.

I like the way you think. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!
