The point being, or legal argument being, when the state allows "the beliefs of any religious order" to significantly effect the drafting of, or altering of, laws, has the state then actually violated the very essence of "Church & State"? Weather it was intended or not, the beliefs and influence of a single religious order have been accommodated in the drafting of common law. Hence, you now have a law that will directly effect those in opposition of this religious even though as individuals they might share the same sentiment and beliefs regarding the effected issues. Stop and think about this. Ask yourself why the Church didn't take their argument that one step further, to exclude anyone with a similar religious or moral viewpoint? They could have easily done this or at least raised this same concern in court, and yet they didn't. Why? The answer should be quite obvious.

Catholic Churches will be exempt from paying for abortions for their employees. Catholic Churches should be exempt because creation of life is written into their theology. They will have to comply with all other aspects of the law.
Christian Science churches would also have the same claim, as is written in to their doctrines, as well. They do not even believe in secular doctoring or medicines, though they have accepted certain vaccinations.
(When I say the "Christian Science" church, I am not referring to Scientology, two totally different entities)

This is a perfect example of what happens when you try to manipulate and enslave people that were intended by design to be free. Obamacare will be dismantled piece by piece over time.

Yes, this is only the beginning. An elephant is eaten one bite at a time. I like that one. :)
I sincerely do not wish better healthcare to fail in this country but it doesn't have to be in the form of this ACA! It can be done with a lot less hassle, cost and sacrifice. The left has to admit they screwed up and the right has to just move on without using it as a political football. Get together on it and make it better. Both sides have seem the bad things emerging from all of this so call it a "prototype" and fix it!

I doubt it will ever happen. In order to fix it too many special interest have to experience a loss and then learn to operate on controlled expenditures. Inflated salaries and huge bonuses would also have to be overhauled, etc. Heck, they're already fighting back tooth and nail, now imagine increasing the potential for the these threats.

JSF,
my dad was very pro-active in writing letters to our rep's, fighting on behalf f our veterans, even helping one (I remember), actually get his benefits, that had been long denied him, through his CONSTANT pressure he put on our elected officials.
My dad was a proud Marine, with NO FEAR of standing up for what is right. Since my father is no longer here or able to do these things, it's up to me, to try and walk in his shoes and boots, as I used to try to as a small child!
I know I will never fill those shoes with the honor and dignity my dad did, but those shoes will cover every inch of ground I plant them on!

Ya'll can call or email your elected rep's too! Let them know how you really feel and what you expect of them!

What is interesting here is the statement that this ruling is a victory over Obamacare. Yet, the regs in obamacare were lifted from the current laws governing health care coverage. Some of these laws have been in effect since 1978. Additionally, there are states that do not give religious organizations an exemption. Yet, before obamacare no controversy! Go figure!

It should also be noted that the Obama Administration offered these religious organizations a compromise. That is: You don't have to pay for contraception. However, it must be provided by your insurance carrier at no charge to the organization. These groups didn't like this because it still gave their employees access to contraceptives. ( in effect, it's like you work for a boss who is a vegetarian who gets pissed when someone else buys you a steak.)

That tells us that issue isn't money - it's control. Nothing new there regarding religion.

Also note that churches are already exempt from the law. It is their extended organizations, like hospitals and Universities at issue here. These are large organizations with, in some cases, thousands of employees. It is doubtful that every employee follows the doctrine of the church or is even of the same faith. Yet, these organizations want to control their employees, force them to live under their religious belief system. That in itself is a sticky legal question. it also neatly explains why some states do not grant health care law exemptions to these organizations.

Lastly, and an interesting side note - survey says that 98% of catholic woman are using contraceptives or have used them in the past. This in direct violation with dictates of their church.

Next stop - Supreme Court

There is no LAW I know of, that favors, includes, and excludes certain orginazations and/or groups of ppl.
A law is a law, and applies to ALL, not just a "select few". When you issue a "law" that only applies to a few or select, that is not law, that is dictatorship! (imho)

Why should I follow along with this O-care debacle? I am capable of running my life, finances, and healthcare, BETTER and more EFFECTIVILY, than ANY ONE in DC, in relation to how they "run" this country!
I pay my bills, I follow the law, pay my taxes, have never filed bankruptcy, and pay for everything I own!
Our GOP can't even do THAT! So I DO reject Obamacare, as the fustercluck that it is.

Washington needs to get their houses in order, enforce current duly passed law, and pray, like MANY Americans have done, that they too, will have a job after the next elections!

NF, once a law is passed how can it be changed or ammended?

Answer is by congress, not by a President's whim.... The executive branch can not supercede the legislative branch.

I don't know TH. How is it your local sheriff and my local PD can seize cars under RICO of Johns soliciting prostitutes? RICO was passed by congress in the late 70s for the purpose to take the profit out of crime. it was narrowly focused and aimed right at the mob. Yet today, without any changes from congress the law's scope has been increased.

As a side note - In Camden County police seized a new Porsche 911 from a suspected drug dealer. Only the guy wasn't a drug dealer. Just some guy who had a little too much weed on him when he got pulled over for speeding. The Camden County prosecutor decided the car needed to be used as an undercover car. As well, the prosecutor himself was seen wheeling around town in it. This went on for about two years when the then 2 year old car finally broke down from complete lack of maintenance. Then it sat in a county yard, with it's driver's window down for almost a year. The BS case against the car's owner was finally tossed and he got his destroyed car back.

So yeah, tell me about it!

" Just some guy who had a little too much weed on him when he got pulled over for speeding." .... Screw him. I'm off topic now but if you don't think lowering the bar on acceptance of ANY illegal drug doesn't lower it further... your head is up you *ss. Try raising a child or 8 and explain that to them... The lower you lower it the lower the bar is for those you raised. Ever had a child go to jail or prison?

Don't like Obamacare, BUT I can let you talk to a couple dozen college students whose parents are thrilled with finally getting free healthcare and because they are at poverty level, we get to pay for it. Bet there are millions who feel the same way...

Well, well, well. What a mess. And why was this notion of national Healthcare turned into a mess? "Too many special interest/lobbyist being accommodated." These elected officials ARE NOT our representatives, not by a long shot. True, they do operate under the pretext of representing us, but it is limited representation at best, whatever they can work in for us while accommodating the big cash-flow cows. Just one or two national lotteries could cover the entire cost of healthcare, but who then, would suffer? And this ends my short and brief revisiting of politically charged topics. :laughing7:

Good job missing the point! Which is Law Enforcement abusing their power.

Law enforcement used a federal Law, that did not apply, to take this guy's car away.

In some states Law Enforcement uses the same law to impound and sell cars of those with invalid registrations. At least on state has a rule that allows it to seize vehicles without current inspections stickers.

Did I miss something today?

NOW, Obama is going to have insurance companies sell "bare-bone catastrophic policies", that don't meet the Obamacare standards, to all the millions, who got dropped from their insurance.

Per the commentary in Fox news, Obamacare is admitting that their plans are too high(expensive), and because no one wants to buy his cwap, he's going to have the insurance companies sell substandard plans, comparable to Ocare "bronze" plan.

The ppl that all had insurance they liked, that got cancelled, can now get a substandard "gap or fill-in" policy.

I have never seen back-peddling, incompetency, deception, corruption, fraud, waste, pandering, probably can throw in misappropriation of funds if not downright embezzlement (I'm sure they'll be billions missing or lost after we get this washed out)......
then when I had an agent screw up a homeowners policy for me, yrs back(but that's another story)!

This is one of the worst things I have ever seen! Hurts ppl, Hurts providers, Hurts medicine, Hurts insurance companies.... Is it HELPING anyone or anything? Hello!

Where's that Klayman dude, handling the NSA suit!?

It's sad Americans scream that government healthcare is socialism, communism, evil and vile, and yet it's what almost every other first-world nation offers to their people, and seeing this List of countries by life expectancy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia it seems to be working for them by and large. Go America! We're #33! I paid about $1AUS a day for health insurance in Australia until last year, this year it may go up a few cents a day. Australia, land of no assault rifles and chronic melanoma outlives us by FOUR YEARS. And yes, if the belief that government should provide for the many rather than the few makes one a socialist, count me in. E

I have a diatribe prepared, I'll save it.......
Seen the great oz healthcare, not impressed, you can have it! Most ppl from America will get sticker shock, when they see the cost of living there, too!
Yes, we should provide for the many, Obamacare has taken from the many and only given to a few, and we don't even truly know, if they've done that!
After working in hospital billing, financial recovery, patient advocacy with Medicaid and the disabled, for as long as I have, I'll trust my judgment along with my doctor any day, over Obamas and Sebelius judgement!
Sorry, I won't be embracing the suck!

I'll be purchasing my policies directly from the insurance companies, I'd never go though a hackers haven website!
