Newbee and help needed with a Tracker IV

New to treasure hunting so forgive me if this is newbee style....

I recently received a Bounty Hunter Tracker IV detector.
I have installed the batteries per manual.
have connected the coil and wiring to the tube and unit.
However there is NO sounds. I have tried with coins, keys and even class ring...still nothing. The needle does however go all the way right.
The box said it could be operated with or without headphones but I can't seem to get any TONES...BEEPS... OR ANYTHING through the speaker.
    Please advise.

Make sure you have alkaline batterys

Try with ear phones to determine if it is just the speaker.

Give First Texas a call, numbers in the manual.
