I checked the manual - should beep and vibrate - check the battery maybe since the vibration takes some juice. Otherwise, inspect, and see if you can shake anything loose. Good luck!!

If you are talking about the 'carrot', there are 6 states that it can be in, I think. I had mine to vibrate only for a while.

If you are talking the older black ones, I think that they just have 1 mode.

I know that you were in a field and wanted to avoid driving home, did you figure this out?

No my pin pointer ll I left the carrot at home and that was my back up so I drove all the way home and went back and my carrot continuously beeping. I've already sent the carrot back twice to be fixed and the black one sent back once already. And this is all within a 6month span. and I just put brand-new the energizer batteries in them. I'm disgusted with Garrett and pointers.

I'm liking the TRX, but can't talk to reliability since I haven't had it long, but has a decent warranty.

I had problems with both the Minelab and Garrett pointers. Both began acting up in about a year. I went to Deteknix Wader at a British website cheaper than N. Ameerica and its going strong.

I use the Garrett Carrot and haven't had any problems yet knock on wood. I take along a Vulcan 360 for backup that's my son's. He likes the vulcan. Works well for him. Maybe you'd like that one. I bought it from kelleyco. It was one of their demos. Got it cheap.
