Don't forget the pirate muesem, a quick walk thru with some cool displays, oh yeah, and it ends in a bar, with rum, lots of rum!!

As touristy as it is, the aquarium at Atlantis is well worth the trip.

Can't remember the name but there is a shop downtown that has tons of old charts of the bahamas.

Get over to Arawak cay for some real local food.

Bottomdweller is right!
Arawak Cay, or the Fish Fry, I know it well!!! is actually a group of restaurants (Hole in the wall) midway between Cable Beach and downtown Nassau. This is where the locals eat. You MUST go there! It is always theBEST food that I eat the whole time we're on the island. You can take a jitney to get there or a cab. Prices are reasonable.

The fried snapper is great! It is fried whole, by far one of the the best fish I've ever eaten. And be sure to get some fried plantains and bahamian macaroni and cheese! Fresh conch all the time.

Yo Mon .. Stay away from the pot heads (you can smell them a comin!) And if your with your lady the East side of the island is not the safest place to be at nite. The Crystal Palace Casino is better than Atlantas (better odds) but I have won and mostly lost at both! The caves are down that way also ... pretty cool ... The island has lots of pirate history, now if only they would rent Harleys down there!

The chart guy has a neat shop, I've bought from him before.

Best I can describe: follow the main drag (I think it's East Bay St.) east a few blocks from the center of town (& Pirate Museum), he is through a breeze way on the south side of the street, mid-block, upstairs toward the back of the building. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Potter's Cay between Nassau and Paradise Island also has some good food, and fun with locals. Use common sense after dark. I don't know when your going but Spring Break will be in full force soon.

There is a good local place called Stacy's Takeout on East Bay St between town & the bridges. The food is great there.

If you want good food, go to Kitchen Deli on Shirley St. Thats the place Boy. Yellowfin are out an about now too. If you get a chance, take the ferry to Harbour Island... You will have more fun there... Less spring break, more relaxing/nice Bahamians. :)
Careful on old wreck hunting... Royal Bahamian Defence force isnt amused by it!

Scubadude remebers as much as I do about the chart guy, definetly upstairs, in the back of the building, but hey, it's Nassau, you want remeber much either!! As said, just watch your back at night, And don't go "over the hill". Once you pass the big hill with the parliment house, fort, and queens staircase you are in locals only territory. Understood rule is the locals put up with us and takeour money downtown, but over the hill is where they go home to relax and get away from us. Respect Mon

Whatever you do, dont rent a scooter! ;D ;D ;D

My 8 year old son and I took a ride around the island and almost died at least a dozen times! Everybody was driving on the wrong side of the road! ::) ::)

How is downtown after dark, i figured it wouldn't be to bad especialy considering we are there during spring break season. I heard you are not supposed to go to the east end of the island after dark.

You'll be fine downtown after dark, just use common sense and stay aware of your surroundings. You can get in trouble anywhere in the world, even in the good ol usa, people just tend to loose their wits while on vacation. Unless your going to a war zone, common sense usually works great. Have fun!
