Re: Fisher's going after new wreck this year.

For the record:
Here is a pic of the salvage crew members who reported for the 2008 annual contractor meeting in Sebastian, which was, by the way a meeting that could have been attended by the walk-in public. Fortunately, interested parties and potential salvors filled the room. You can pick out some notable folks in the crowd. Most were there to get the latest on any new regulations they might have to abide by.

Here's a pic of Taffi Fisher addressing the audience.
2008meeting2.gif

Taffi's archaeologist, Dr. Sinclair, was at the meeting to cover the details.

Now, here's a picture of the representative of the State of Florida who was there to give us final instructions from the Bureau of Archaeological Research. OMG, did I lose that picture? Nope, there was NO rep from the State of Florida! Things are so bad they simply avoid taking any interest at all. Imagine that.

SignumOps, you can rest your case. Where was the state during an important meeting? Also, I seem to recall a representative archaeologist from the state saying they'd rather see all the artifacts and treasure erode beneath the sea than have treasure hunters bring it up! I know one of you out there can put a name to this person.

Re: Fisher's going after new wreck this year.

Just like to add,if anyone questions the intentions of the Fishers and their new quest, I'm sure Kim Fisher would personally lead you through the labs, offices and ships of the company. As a 7+year crew member, I can attest to eating, breathing and dreaming the Archeo. side of the hunt. Putting the whole story together,to bring to light the buried pieces.
The treasure side is very exciting and romantic! But have you looked at the cost of Fuel, dive gear, parts, electricity for Electolysis tanks, The price of computers needed to set up the finest artifact databanks in the world??Etc etc. And our Investors continue to contribute, to share in the dream, and to be able to hold a small piece of history.
How do you make a million in the treasure business? Start with a few million...
"You won't find treasure sitting at the dock" Good luck in the search for the "Lost Merchant"!

Mr crzhors,

Do you mind posting some pics with the story behind some of the items that you have found? Thank you very much. This is my favorite part of being on this site.

Re: Fisher's going after new wreck this year.

crzhors, I wish you and the Fisher's all the luck in the world. I hope this is a exciting year for all of you and I hope that you have a ton of success. I certified Kim's wife to dive a long time ago and I think they are some of the nicest people that I have ever met in this business or in any business for that matter.
I remember many years ago when Mel invited my family into his home. I really liked the old chicken farmer. For door stops in his house in the Keys, he was using gold finger bars. I really found that fascinating and I've never forgotten it.

Best of Luck on the Merchant project and don't let the bashers get to you.

Dont hold your breath, on one thread Alex eluded to the fact that milled spanish coins would be unlikely on the wrecks found off Australia because they were 17th century. When I produced 3 pictures of milled coins from the 17th century including one from the Austrailian wrecks, the silence was pretty much the same.

Also, the coins look milled, so an 18th century date would be in order...

The actual answer to my question of
"What is the difference between a lawyer and a whore", is

A whore won't F_ _ _ You if you are dead!

Goold's name should be Ghoul!
But in point of fact the attorneys on all sides of this litigation are running up time at
the client's expense. Cha... ching.... Cha... Ching

Good luck to the Fisher's new project Looking for "Merchantmen" makes a lot of sense! :headbang:

What is archaeology?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archaeology

"Archaeology, or archeology[1] (from Greek ἀρχαιολογία, archaiologia – ἀρχαῖος, arkhaīos, "ancient"; and -λογία, -logiā, "-logy[2]"), is the study of past human societies, primarily through the recovery and analysis of the material culture and environmental data which they have left behind, which includes artifacts, architecture, biofacts and cultural landscapes (the archaeological record). Because archaeology employs a wide range of different procedures, it can be considered to be both a science and a humanity,[3] and in the United States it is thought of as a branch of anthropology,[4] although in Europe it is viewed as a separate discipline."

Archaeology also preserves cultural resources. Often it is said that archaeology preserves cultural resources in so that the “public” can observe and “enjoy” those resources, mostly through viewing at museums.

If this is so, then have not the Fisher’s and other private sector historical shipwreck artifact recovery specialists provided archaeology to the people of the world?

Have they not preserved cultural resources for the world to observe and enjoy?

I wonder how many thousands; tens of thousands of people throughout the world have held a historical shipwreck artifact because private sector recovery specialists retrieved those artifacts off the oceans bottom?

I myself have been able to share these types of cultural resources with people all over the United States (some that were visiting from other countries) who may never have had the opportunity to do so if it wasn’t for being a private sector historical shipwreck artifact recovery specialist.

After all if cultural resource preservation isn’t being done for “the people” then who is it being done for?
I would like to know how many institutional museums have on display solely historical shipwreck artifacts recovered in the State of Florida that have not been recovered by private sector recovery specialists.

How many institutional museums display Florida shipwreck artifacts recovered by the private sector?

How many” private” museums display artifacts recovered by the private sector?

I would take a guess that more “private” museums display historical shipwreck artifacts than institutional museums.

If the above is true then the private sector provides more cultural awareness to the general public than institutional archaeology making private sector historical shipwreck artifact recovery specialists the true benefactor of archaeology and cultural preservation to the general public.

Yes, I am very interested in the general location, Keys and such. And Ed where did you get this information, like I said I am very interested. Do you remember that deep water wreck I came to you with, well I sold Gary my 882 and worked up an agreement with them , gave them location , depth and all. Weeks later they came back and said no longer interested. Gets me wondering that's all.

Peerles- did you really just say that I'm a socialist? My country is a socialist one? Thats the thanks my country gets after your country was almost destroyed? After my country came in and saved yours? Or is your country still pissed after they lost to a bunch of farmers, when yours had the best military in the world, 200 some odd years ago? hh and safe diving,

Nick

pvet, I remember the conversation we had. Those were also some awesome pictures that you had of ground zero in NY.
PM me with your email. The info about their search for this wreck came from an email they sent me. I think they sent it out to a lot of potential investors. I'll check and see if I still have it and forward it to you.
