    Salvage divers

Would Spain have used divers in 10 feet of water? With this i mean, actively brought divers on scene (ie indians) or just managed with what the salvage ship had on board. Opinions please?

    Re: Salvage divers

As this question relates to this topic.....

What we are salvaging is the scattered remains of what is
left after 350 or so years
after the initial wreck, fires, and deterioration from the
ravages of time, surf zones and the seas.

This happens pretty quick in a surf zone - as water is incompressable
and there is nothing much bigger than the oceans....

Lucky for us they didn't have metal detectors back then and as soon
as the shifting sands of time buried what ever remained
It was out of their reach

Oh by the way its not even archeology.... its more like anthropology
as it is highly unlikely that the relationship of one artifact to
another is going to give up anything other than maybe a trail to other artifacts.
The artifacts stimulate public interest in the past and the subsequent educational
    opportunity is an anthropological event!

    Does this answer your question?

Oh by the way.... We will be out today doing some anthropology

Since 1987 our Jupiter Wreck has continued to yield coins but the question, "Where's the rest of the Ship?" has remained unanswered...  There are 2 layers of shipwreck scatter and we are equipping the "Enterprise" to excavate the primary treasure layer.  Join with us this year!

    Re: Salvage divers

Eh...tells me you like finding coins in shallow water....so how about the term "divers" since most of us dive and work dive, not scooby dive, we (working divers) also have terms for divers...so did for instance the Spaniards have levels of divers....not including the poor pearl divers ... good luck there Dom may you find shiny stuff

    Re: Salvage divers

I don't call what we do diving......

    I call it splashing!

Heck.... I don't even wear fins... I put 40 pounds
around my waist and attempt to go straight to the bottom
    of the hole!

Although it is a labor of passion make no mistake that it is
not work! I don't know of many "working divers" that would
spend the amount of time individuals like Mad for Wrecks or for that
matter guys like the Sea hunter as well, if they were not getting paid a good hourly
    wage for it.

Understand I wish I could pay those who dive with me as well because
good people are worth money and have a right to make a living
no matter whether they are splasers.

    Re: Salvage divers

We need some salvage divers for the 1715 fleet wrecks. We have a unique way of diving. We tie a long rope around one of your ankles and tie the other end to a cleat on deck.We hand you a 34lb ballast stone so you get to the bottom real quick. There are no masks/fins or snorkles or scuba used. Its real simple work.If you dont return to the surface with gold or silver,we feed you to the sharks.Any takers?
Millions of dollars of Spanish treasure await those who would dare brave the eye of the hurricane.

Seems a shame to me to loose all those 34 lb ballast weights . Shouldnt you tie them off ?
