Black Warrior (NY) deck prism

Black Warrior opened up a bit after winter storms. I found this intact deck prism just sticking out of the sand. Only other one I have seen off this wreck was found by Mike McMeekin over 15 years ago.

What is that you're holding ? It looks like a valve cover for a Corvette....

Dek prisms were mounted through the wood deck of many sailing ships. Ambient light would refract through the prism and illuminate the entire interior room.
