funny thing * one source says 9 * ships sent to "salvage" 1715 fleet another 8

hummm in the book "the funnel of gold" on page 368 salmon says in his letter to the king -- that he is indebted for 9 vessels sent to salvage the fleet --- yet the govenor of cuba list only 8 boats sent to salvage the fleet --could the "extra" vessel be the "barcalonga" lost in nassau sound?

Wreckdiver, Stay out of the Casino, but if you can't, see if you can win back the money I left them with! P.S. don't waste your time looking for Ivan's wreck. It ain't in the Bahamas.

Tom...happy to hear you are taking a well-deserved vacation!

    Ivan, hello!

There were actually 11 boats sent initially to El Palmar de Ayz.
Of these, 9 sloops belonged to Mirallas, a resident of Havana, who kindly helped out (this is in regards
to what you read in Funnel of Gold).
All 11 boats arrived safely back in Havana with the majority of survivors
and the treasure that had already been salvaged.
A number of 8 vessels were sent back to El Palmar de Ayz to officially engage
in the salvage operations and only one boat of the 8 had a mishap.
It wrecked near Havana in October, 1715, due to bad weather. --Escribania de Camara 1058C

i was aware of the 9 boats --and 8 boats but was wondering -- where the boat that was refered to the english govenor of virgina -alexander spotswood come from?? --- in his PS at the bottom of his oct 24,th 1715 letter to british home sec lord stanhope in which he is trying to get royal ok to loot the nassau sound wreck site --spotswood is quite detailed -- in the details -- such as --- type of vessel * (barcalongo) where from *(sent from havana) mission (to pick up vips and royal treasures from the 1715 wreck sites) and as to where it was wrecked at (about 40 miles northward of st augustine) -- using a set of dividers and cutting a 40 mile arc puts you in ****nassau sound ,fla --between little talbot and amelia island --where for years 1715 era type items have washed ashore. so it seems clear that theres a lost -- 1715 fleet salvage recovery vessel down in the sound -- but whats its "name"? huummm
