Somehow in an earlier post we managed to get of
the tract to some consternation of some of the T-Net
community...

The moderators were soon to clear up this transgression
so I thought it best being a man of the sea, {not to be
mistaken for the plural of the above} to begin another
post that is truly more treasure and possibly
diving related so here we go..... :angel8: :angel8:
Here is one of mine....
now you show us yours....

Now there are a number of different varieties
of chests. Some are more vintage than others..
comfortably numb has tastefully shown his preference

Here is a wide body... version

My next posting after this example may require some
augmentation as when the photo was taken the water
appears to have been cold.

In keeping with the posting "A good day at the 1715 fleet
and the concept of treasure i will endeavor to use the right
masking agents.

Here is a tamer version of mad about wrecks
earlier concept of a truly historic :headbang: :headbang:functional treasure diver
and treasure chest!

The gold two escudos represent tasteful bubbles that mask the result of the cold
waters and their possible effects, near Bermuda where this classic photo was taken.

and.... :read2: in keeping with
tasteful research...... :icon_scratch: :sign13:

I found a photo of Sophia in a "dry suit"
before one of her famous dives
making the movie "Boy on a Dolphin"
the classic that it was....

Sophia did much to bring interest in
diving to the mainstream.....

I wish I could repost the photo of Sophia
in her wet suit but one of the moderators spiked
it..... :icon_scratch: :icon_scratch: :'(

How about if I put in the two escudo bubbles?
Sophia couldn't help the cold water and the
thin nature of her early wet suit!

Send me an email and I will send you a copy of it...
or them... or both of them...
I mean the photos.... :icon_pirat:
of Ms. Loren... ::) ::)

This is my favorite photo of a treasure chest.

It shows Tommy Gore, state of Florida field agent (now a treasure hunter) with a box of coins recovered by Real Eight Co. divers off the 1715 Cabin Wreck.

Circa 1965?

The Tommy Gore photo is outstanding. That man is a living legend.

However, I'm confused about this thread....you talk about "treasure chests" and "boxes" but show containers of coins....

(We have gay moderators??)

NOW..... Billin in Stuart :( :( :(

Let us not be harsh.... :laughing9: :laughing9:

It is the 21st century and a lot of folks were brought up
on formula and do not have or wish not to have any knowledge
of the effects of cold water on the fairer sex.....

They also may be frightened of the effect cold water has on them as well :o :o

So as to sooth any troubled spirits your suggestion may have
caused here is a post for the moderators and other disgruntled
followers of this posting.... :notworthy: :notworthy:

P.S. also, just in case you are right.....

Now... Diver Down insinuated
he had a "bigger one than me".... ::)

and if I were off color or sexually oriented.....
one may expect that posting as some sort of challenge....

but I am old and competing with all you young guys
who may in point of fact - have :smileinbox: really
big ones.... I will leave you with this humble
photo of ...... {do you ever notice one is always bigger
or hangs lower than another} two seperate chests.... :headbang: :headbang:

This is a perfect case of what
happens.....
when the seas are too
rough to dive.... :'( :'(
and one has way too much
time on their hands.... :icon_scratch: :dontknow: :icon_scratch: :dontknow:

My last posturing post was just that so these two photos
actually speak the truth
As they say
a picture can be worth a thousand words so...
the first photos shows the effects of time and the sea...
the second is meant for those whose
sense of humor and or thin skin

leaves much to be desired.... :icon_thumright:

You win, Dom. Just by virtue that your chest is full. Mine was also missing the outer left latch, but everything else was intact. They both look to be the same size, but yours is full so you win. How much did it weigh full? Mine takes two guys to lift empty or one can struggle to lift it off the ground by oneself. Anyway, I'm sure you have seen the features before, but the attached picture is for the benefit of the others. The top lock has a hidden plate that springs up to reveal the top lock. Most of the time this is broken or non-existent. Enjoy.

To be totally truthful
the big chest had a upper shelf
but it still did take a lot of coins to fill
it up!

The boxes on the front of the desk are cobs
in flip containers stacked in blue coin boxes.
I have never wholesaled any coins so
we still have a pretty good collection of them.
With silver going up - it was a good call!

Treasure hunting and exploration is suppose
to be fun! Unfortunately, greed professional and male egos can bring
out the worst just as much as the best in all of us -
me included.....

I have learned over the years to poke fun at me -
rather than to be too full of myself. {some reading this will have a different opinion} :tongue3:

The best finds come when you least
expect them....
pardon the melancholy nature of this response...

but sharing the adventure of discovery is true
treasure... and, {a little boasting perhaps} along
the way, but always with a belly laugh....
