    New Underwater Detector

I am now at a position that I would like to, and can purchase the best hand held detector available. As 99% of its use will be in saltwater and an average depth of 50' and alot of shallow diving. I would really appreciate the expertise of you guys and gals. Thanks in advance,Bill

    Re: New Underwater Detector

In my opinion the Aqua Pulse is the best underwater detector. Here's a link for it.

Once again. It's just my opinion and we all have one. Good Luck.

    Re: New Underwater Detector

One thing I might add is that no matter how hard you try, stuff gets hard treatment always in a boat, so I want one that can stand up to that environment. Thanks

Buy a aquapulse and use a minelab for a door stop.

    Re: New Underwater Detector

I use a jw fishers pulse 8x and it has been very good to me. I also have a fishers 1280x aquanaut and it gave me over 20 years of good service before going belly up. I will either get another or have the old one rebuilt. the pulse 8x will go way deeper than the 1280x .

you can get a bulkhead fitting so you can change coils on the jw fishers pulse 8x. this is great for changing conditions. I can tow my 48" coil behind my boat. stop on a hit and change to the 8" coil to check out the hit. I also have a 16" coil for finding large items very deep.

chris combs has been very good to me at jw fishers, they treat people right.
them that dive will be the lucky ones !!

What is the biggest coil used on an aquapulse, before barking....not on an extended shaft but on wand? What are you guys using?

    Re: New Underwater Detector

the company I work for has both Excalluber and Aqua pulse detectors. both work really good but the slight advantage goes to the Aqua pulse, it has a large loop (10 or 12 inches)
